Our Devon Nursing Home, Heanton has recently undergone a complete refurbishment, and it is looking brilliant!
The nursing home, located in Heanton Punchardon close to Braunton and Barnstaple, has employed specialist interior designers in recent months in order to create positive and calming environments for people living with dementia.
The model of care employed at Heanton Nursing Home is the Household Model, which has meant that the home is split up into smaller houses and communities. Each community has had its very own living space and kitchen fitted, so that individuals can feel like it is truly their home and just not one large institution.
Heanton’s Home Manager Paula Mascall, who has been overseeing the project, commented: “we have designed each one of our houses around the people living there, so each one is very distinct. Individuals living with us have been very involved in the changes and we have done it all gradually so as not to disturb everyone too much. The results are fantastic and the whole home feels brighter and even more full of laughter and fun.”
